Can you imagine spending your days surrounded by all the Proenza, Prada, and Prabal a girl could ever dream of? Well, at just 25 years old, Barneys' Laura Stoloff is living the dream.
Though her job at one of the world's most important luxury retailers has her swimming in designer duds, she opted for a more classical education at Colgate University, where she majored in English and Art History. But fashion was always in the background for the stylish coed: A creative writing focus in her studies complemented her work for the school newspaper, where she wrote a weekly fashion column and climbed up the editorial ranks. She was exposed to the world of couture via a glamorous post-college internship in Paris and landed at Barneys as a Fashion Assistant upon her return to the States. After a promotion, the company created the Assistant Fashion Director position just for her a few months back.
The role means her hands are constantly in a million different insanely stylish pots, as she runs between market appointments, puts together trend reports for the entire company, and oversees private label design. We met up with Laura for a tour of Barneys' Madison Avenue flagship and the inside scoop on how she got to where she is. Click through to learn all about the rising retail star!
